Suna means sand in Japanese.

SUNA BALL did not begin as a product. It began as play.

For many years, I have been drawn to the beach, to the sand, and to the simple act of creating patterns with my hands. There is something calming about following a line, watching a shape emerge, and allowing time to slow down for a moment.

When I created SUNA BALL, I wanted to capture that feeling.

The ball is designed to create soft patterns in sand. The slower you roll it, the deeper and more intricate the patterns become. It is a gentle reminder of something children already know—that not everything needs a goal. Sometimes it is enough to simply be curious and present in what you are doing.

My years working with children taught me a great deal about this. Children naturally explore the world through their senses. They build, draw, experiment and create patterns without worrying about results. They are fully engaged in the moment.

This same principle often inspires my artwork and creative workshops. Simple sensory activities can help us slow down, focus our attention, and give the nervous system a chance to rest.

SUNA BALL can be used on the beach, in the garden, or indoors in a bowl of sand. Perhaps alongside a few shells, stones, or treasures collected from nature. A simple invitation to bring more playfulness, creativity and presence into everyday life.

Each SUNA BALL is individually handcrafted in my studio in Ystad, Sweden.
